Uttar Pradesh’s Bhogaon police have registered an FIR naming popular Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade and 12 others in an alleged investment fraud case, officials said. The complaint was lodged on February 10 in Mainpuri district and accuses the group of duping villagers out of a substantial amount of money.
According to the FIR, the complainant, a resident of Mohalla Mishrana, alleges that Talpade and his associates orchestrated an investment scheme at a Mumbai bank branch and collected money from villagers on the promise of returns. The complaint claims victims from the locality were cheated of lakhs of rupees.
Police in Bhogaon have opened an investigation and say they are acting on the basis of the court order that followed the complaint. As of now, there has been no public statement from Talpade or his family responding to the allegations. Investigations of this kind are at an early stage and an FIR is an allegation that will be examined by the police and courts.
Talpade, who has worked across Hindi and Marathi cinema as an actor, director and producer, rose to prominence with his lead role in the 2005 film Iqbal and has since appeared in films such as Dor, the Golmaal series and as part of ensemble projects like Om Shanti Om. He has also been involved in theatre and OTT initiatives outside mainstream acting work.
Talpade is also part of the large ensemble cast of the upcoming comedy Welcome to the Jungle, which is slated for a June 26, 2026 theatrical release. The film features a wide array of established stars, underlining how the current allegations could have visibility beyond regional reporting if the case develops.
