Veteran singer Arijit Singh has been credited on the soundtrack of Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Ek Din, even after his late-January announcement that he would no longer be taking new playback assignments. The production house’s social media post which included a photo of the two in conversation, Arijit with a guitar and Aamir showing something on his phone, thanked the singer for “bringing so much heart” to the film’s music.
Arijit’s retirement message, shared publicly at the end of January, said he would stop accepting fresh playback projects while continuing to work on independent music and honour previously committed recordings. The disclosure surprised fans and sparked widespread media discussion about his future in film music.
Aamir Khan spent a few days at Arijit Singh’s family home in Jiaganj, West Bengal. It wasn’t a big public event, just a private visit. Looking back, Aamir called the whole experience “magical” and thanked Arijit for everything he brought to the table. Fans are hoping to see their collaboration in “Ek Din”, a romantic drama from Aamir Khan Productions, directed by Sunil Pandey.
The confirmation instantly triggered a wave of reactions online, with fans calling it a “comeback” and others praising Arijit for staying selective rather than stepping back entirely. Many listeners expressed relief that his voice would still appear in films where music serves the story, not the market.
Ek Din stars Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi and is an official Hindi remake of the Thai film One Day; the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2026. With Arijit’s voice now part of the soundtrack, the project adds another high-profile chapter to the singer’s evolving musical journey.
