Haryana BJP president Nayab Singh Saini to be next Chief Minister. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his cabinet submitted their resignations on Tuesday. Haryana Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma said Khattar will take oath as CM again.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new cabinet is scheduled at 5 pm today. The ties between the BJP and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala-led JJP broke following their failure to reach a seat-sharing agreement in the state for the Lok Sabha polls. Chautala also called a meeting of his party MLAs in Delhi
JJP reportedly wanted to field candidates from Hisar and Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha seats. The current MP from Hisar, Brijendra Singh, left the BJP and joined the Congress on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the top Congress leadership also cleared the names of about 40 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. As per sources, the party has decided to field former chief minister Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath once again from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara and Ashok Gehlot’s son Vaibhav from Jalore in Rajasthan.
Both Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot are also unlikely to contest, with the former’s son entering the poll fray and the latter having responsibility of Chhattisgarh as AICC general secretary, the sources added. Among the seats that were discussed at the meeting included 14 each from Rajasthan, Assam and Gujarat, 16 from Madhya Pradesh and five from Uttarakhand, besides one from Union Territory of Daman and Diu.
