Actor-turned-volunteer Sonu Sood announced on Thursday that he is arranging free accommodation for people stranded in Dubai after travel chaos sparked by the escalating US–Iran confrontation. In a short video shared on his social channels, he said anyone stuck in the city “regardless of nationality” should reach out and that organisers will ensure a safe, no-cost place to stay until they can return home.

Sood asked people to DM him or the property group coordinating the effort, listing the Instagram handle for Dugasta Properties as the contact point for those seeking shelter. The post underlined his message with a line: “No nationality. No conditions. Just humanity.” The outreach reflected his earlier high-profile relief work during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

The offer comes as major airlines and governments scramble to help citizens leave the Gulf. Commercial flight schedules from Dubai and other Gulf hubs have been heavily disrupted, and several carriers have suspended services while some governments facilitate charter evacuations for their nationals. Officials in the United States have moved to arrange charter flights and issued travel advisories amid the flight cancellations and airport restrictions.

Thousands of passengers remain affected by the disruptions, and the situation has seen a mix of government repatriation flights and private evacuation arrangements. Some Indian actors and citizens who were stranded including actor Sonal Chauhan have already returned home after being delayed by cancellations; others continue to await flights or temporary accommodation.

On the ground, travel and logistics are volatile, fares and private-evacuation costs have spiked, and relief efforts by NGOs, private firms and individuals are working alongside consular operations to assist vulnerable travellers. Sood’s public offer provides an immediate, pragmatic option for people who cannot afford rising repatriation costs or who are waiting for official evacuation notices.

If you are stranded in Dubai and need help, Sood asked that you DM him or the Dugasta Properties Instagram account (as mentioned in his post). Those coordinating relief have urged people to share verified contact details and avoid unofficial intermediaries and to follow guidance issued by their embassies while arrangements are made.

The ongoing regional crisis has created a situation that leaves thousands of travellers stranded, which private initiatives like this one use social media and local partnerships to solve while government agencies and airlines prepare for larger evacuation operations.
