Filmmaker and real estate developer Anand Pandit has revealed that his company is handling the work at Mannat, offering a fresh glimpse into the changes being made to Shah Rukh Khan's famous Bandra residence.
Speaking on Ravi Kewalramani's podcast, Anand Pandit spoke about the projects being handled by his real estate company.
Among them was Mannat.
“We’re adding a few floors to the back portion of Mannat.”
While Pandit did not elaborate further on the exact nature of the expansion, the renovation has been in the works for several months.
Earlier, it was reported that Shah Rukh Khan had sought permission to add two additional floors to the annexe behind Mannat. The proposed expansion is expected to add around 616 square metres to the property's built-up area and has been estimated to cost approximately ₹25 crore.
The expansion is not as straightforward as adding a few floors to an ordinary residential property.
Mannat is a heritage structure and is located near Mumbai's coastline, meaning the proposed renovation and vertical expansion require regulatory clearances.
The property consists of the main heritage bungalow and a multi-storey annexe behind it. The new construction is planned for the rear portion rather than the heritage-facing structure that has become synonymous with Shah Rukh Khan.
Because of Mannat's location and heritage status, approvals from the relevant authorities are required before major structural changes can be carried out.
The renovation has also attracted significant attention because Mannat is far more than just Shah Rukh Khan's residence.

During his conversation with Ravi Kewalramani, Pandit recalled discussing the redevelopment project with Shah Rukh Khan and discovering the personal connection the actor had with the property.
Shah Rukh had bought the apartment after moving to Mumbai from Delhi and marrying Gauri Khan in 1991.
The actor eventually moved to Mannat, but the Carter Road property remained part of his real estate portfolio. It is now also undergoing redevelopment.
The two projects represent very different chapters in Shah Rukh Khan's journey.
One is connected to his early years in Mumbai, when he was still finding his place in the Hindi film industry. The other is Mannat—the house that would eventually become a symbol of his extraordinary rise to superstardom.
