The filmmakers have confirmed that Dhurandhar will return to cinemas worldwide from mid-March. The movie will exit its streaming period to begin its theatrical run three days before its sequel premiere. Jio Studios and B62 Studios will release their film again from March 12 to March 13 through approximately 500 international screens. The release will include domestic and international showings as well as special large-format (PLF) presentations throughout North America.

The franchise will release its next film Dhurandhar: The Revenge which Aditya Dhar directed on March 19. The prequel allows viewers to either review the existing story or learn about it for the upcoming chapter. The sequel features returning actors from the original movie together with newly added cast members while ticketing websites show the film will premiere on March 19 and have paid previews available from March 18.

The release schedule of the two-part Dhurandhar franchise competes directly with Pawan Kalyan's Ustaad Bhagat Singh which will premiere on the same date creating one of the biggest movie box-office challenges of the year. Trade voices and studio statements suggest both camps are confident their films will find audiences a clash that distributors and exhibitors are monitoring closely.

The prequel's re-release currently matters because Dhurandhar existed as a true phenomenon. The spy thriller achieved worldwide box office earnings beyond ₹1,300 crores during its original release which made it the first Hindi film to reach ₹1000 crore in India box office earnings. The studios need to renew audience interest in theaters because they want to increase attendance before their sequel release. The original movie allows casual audiences to see essential story elements while dedicated fans can experience the film again on high-quality screens.

The sequel's promotion shows actual results through advance ticket sales which exceed previous records at the box-office window. The industry metrics show strong early international box-office collection and active ticket sales in India which have reached millions of dollars in North America and crores in India from preview tickets alone. The upcoming release of Dhurandhar 2 presents actual commercial success since the prequel will show a brief re-run to take advantage of this success.

The upcoming re-release will show a shorter version of the first film which will be available in select premium and standard theaters. The marketing campaign will show the main story elements to audiences through its conventional promotional methods. The action enthusiasts from the audience will find the movie's sounds and visual effects appealing while new viewers can use this opportunity to watch the film before its sequel release. The March release schedule shows high-demand bookings which will force exhibitors to manage multiple showings while fans choose between attending the two premieres or experiencing both events.

This is a classic studio playbook put the successful original back in cinemas to amplify sequel demand and maximise opening-week windows but executed at a scale few Bollywood films have seen. If the advance numbers hold, March 19 is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most closely watched box-office weekends.
