Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra questioned the urgency behind the government’s decision. “What was the hurry to hold this event? Even if someone else arranged it, why did the government approve it? It could’ve easily been held 3 to 7 days later,” he said.

BJP’s R Ashoka, too, questioned the rush to organise the event, saying, "The government must take full responsibility for this incident. What would have gone wrong if the event was held later? Why were they in such a hurry? This is not 'Brand Bengaluru', this is the death of Bengaluru.”

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar noted that 5,000 police personnel were deployed to manage the crowd during the event. The BJP, however, alleged that the government prioritised politics and publicity over fan safety.

The stampede that occurred outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru resulted in 11 deaths, leaving many injured.
