Operation Sindoor fulfilled the objective of scoring a psychological win over Pakistan, with India underlining the message that terrorists are not safe even in their own backyards -- in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "ghar mein ghus ke marenge" remarks, government sources told on Sunday.
In fact, in one of the briefings following Pakistan's military actions, PM Modi was quoted by one of the officials, as reported by news agency PTI, as saying, "Wahan se goli chalegi, toh yahan se gola chalega (If they fire bullets, we will respond with cannons)."
On the US's role in India and Pakistan reaching an understanding, Prime Minister Modi told Vice President JD Vance that India’s decisions would not be influenced by any other country, government sources told.
PM Modi further said that if Pakistan attacks, India would respond even more strongly.
According to sources, India defeated Pakistan in every round during the four-day conflict. They added that Pakistan couldn't match India's operational capability at any point.
"Every night became worse and worse for the Pakistanis," government sources told.
"The Pakistanis did what they did during Kargil as well, which is to go to the Americans and say this is what the Indians have done," sources added.
In a related development, Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, gave Army commanders along the western border full authority to go ahead and respond to any Pakistani aggression following the de-escalation agreement between both countries on Saturday evening.
"Consequent to the ceasefire and airspace violations on the night of May 10-11, the Chief of Army Staff reviewed the security situation with the Army Commanders of the Western Borders," the Army said.
