Tensions gripped the Loni Kalbhor area near Pune on Monday after Iranian flag and banners featuring Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei were spotted near the Loni railway station. According to reports, several Iranian nationals had been raising slogans in the area over the past three days.

The unexpected display of the banners sparked unrest among locals near Pune-Solapur National Highway and the law enforcement and municipal authorities had to intervene.

Following multiple complaints, municipal officials, accompanied by the police, arrived at the site and took down the banners to defuse the situation and restore calm in the locality.

The police intervention was prompted by the protests staged by Hindu organisations, who strongly objected to the political display.

Authorities have now launched an investigation into the motives behind the display and are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further disturbances.
