Drunk man urinates on woman from auto, mob beats him to death in Chennai

A 30-year-old man in Chennai died after a mob beat him for allegedly urinating on a woman from an autorickshaw. Police have registered a case and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.

A drunk man was beaten to death by a mob in Chennai after he allegedly urinated on a woman while he was travelling in an autorickshaw, police said. Authorities have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify those involved in the assault.

The incident took place on Wednesday when the victim, identified as 30-year-old Kalaiselvan, was travelling with a friend in an autorickshaw.

According to preliminary information, Kalaiselvan was drunk and allegedly urinated on a woman who was passing by on the road. The act led to a heated argument between the woman and the man, drawing the attention of people nearby.

As the argument escalated, a crowd quickly gathered at the spot. Police said members of the mob allegedly began assaulting Kalaiselvan.

During the attack, Kalaiselvan collapsed and lost consciousness. He was later taken to Stanley Government Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police said a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the people involved in the assault.

Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
