Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan entered a new phase of his life, as he announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend, Sophie Shine.
Dhawan shared the news with his fans on social media, showcasing pictures from the event and proudly displaying his engagement ring.
“From shared smiles to shared dreams. Grateful for the love, the blessings and every good wish for our engagement as we choose togetherness forever," Dhawan wrote in a social media post.
Reports indicate that the couple is now planning their wedding, expected to take place in the third week of the month in the Delhi-NCR region. The ceremony is anticipated to be private yet grand, with numerous notable figures from the cricketing world and the film industry expected to attend. The celebrations are expected to be a lavish affair, befitting one of Indian cricket’s most recognisable faces, though details about the guest list and functions are being kept under wraps for now.
Dhawan and Sophie were first publicly seen together during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which generated significant interest among fans. Sources suggest that they met several years ago in Dubai, initially forming a friendship that gradually blossomed into a relationship. They made their relationship official on social media in May 2025.
The former India batter is actively involved in the wedding preparations, treating the occasion as a significant personal milestone. Sophie Shine works as a product consultant and holds the position of Second Vice President – Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation, a US-based financial services company, according to her LinkedIn profile. She also heads the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, which focuses on charitable initiatives under Da One Sports.
Dhawan was previously married to Ayesha Mukherjee, with whom he has a son. Dhawan and his estranged wife, Aesha Mukherjee, officially separated in October 2023, ending their 11-year marriage.
