Paris Saint-Germain clinched their very first UEFA Champions League title, as they humiliated Inter Milan 5-0 in a one-sided final. PSG, as a result, also sealed the first treble in club history. PSG went into a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes, with goals from former Inter player Achraf Hakimi and 19-year-old wonderkid Desire Doue. The latter made it 3-0 in the second half. Georgian forward Kvicha Kvaratskhelia added a fourth, while substitute Senny Mayulu made it five. It marks the second career treble for PSG manager Luis Enrique. Inter, on the other hand, have suffered two UCL final defeats in three seasons.
The breakthrough came as Vitinha carved open Inter’s defence with a precise pass to Dou, who laid it off for Hakimi in the box. The former Inter man tapped it home with ease, sending PSG fans into a frenzy. In a show of respect, Hakimi chose not to celebrate against his old club
This was the biggest victory by any team in the final of the 70-year history of the European Cup and Champions League, with PSG becoming the first team to score five goals in the final since Benfica in 1962. PSG's victory in the pinnacle of European football came after over a decade of huge investment from their Qatari owners.
Desire Doue was the star of the show with a brace and an assist and Achraf Hakimi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu sealed a five-star performance in Munich on Saturday. Mbappe, who left for Real Madrid at the start of the 2024-25 season, is the highest goalscorer for PSG and he sent out a message right after the win. The French captain said that the big day finally arrived for PSG and it came in style.
