The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Apollo Tyres will be the new jersey sponsor of the Indian cricket team, securing the rights until 2028. The move follows the termination of the BCCI's contract with Dream11 after the government banned betting-related applications.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today announced a landmark partnership with Apollo Tyres, a leader in the global tyre industry, as the new lead sponsor of Team India. This marks Apollo Tyres' first-ever foray into Indian cricket, a strategic move to align with a sport that resonates deeply with the nation," the BCCI said in a statement.
The agreement spans two and a half years, concluding in March 2028. Under the terms of the deal, the Apollo Tyres logo will be featured on the jerseys of both the Indian men's and women's teams across all formats, succeeding the previous sponsorship held by Dream11.
Apollo Tyres will pay Rs 4.5 crore per match to the BCCI, surpassing Dream11's earlier contribution of Rs 4 crore per match. With India's packed international cricket calendar, the partnership is set to provide the tyre manufacturer with significant global visibility, while also becoming one of the most lucrative sponsorship deals in Indian cricket in recent years.
"The arrival of Apollo Tyres as our new sponsor is a testament to the hard work and consistent performance of our teams. This is more than a commercial agreement; it's a partnership between two institutions that have earned the trust and respect of millions," Devajit Saikia, the BCCI secretary said.
"We are delighted to welcome Apollo Tyres as our new lead sponsor. This is a momentous occasion, bringing together two of India's most powerful and enduring legacies: the unwavering spirit of Indian cricket and the pioneering legacy of Apollo Tyres. The competitive nature of the bidding process highlights the strong market confidence in the BCCI and the global brand of Team India. We are confident that this partnership will be a driving force for mutual growth and success, " Mr. Rajeev Shukla, vice-president of BCCI added.
The BCCI had been left without a shirt sponsor after the government banned real-money gaming platforms, including Dream11, under the 'Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act 2025'. The legislation states that "no person shall offer any, aid, abet, induce, indulge, engage in offering online money gaming services nor shall involve in any advertisement which directly or indirectly promotes any person to play any online money game."
The team has been playing the Asia Cup in Dubai without a title sponsor. "The deal has been signed with Apollo Tyres. We will announce it soon," a senior BCCI official said.
The three-year deal with Apollo Tyres is reportedly valued at Rs 579 crore, significantly higher than the Rs 358 crore agreement with Dream11 for the same duration. It covers 121 bilateral games and 21 ICC events.
Apollo Tyres, headquartered in Gurugram, has manufacturing units both in India and overseas, including in Europe.
