Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat has denied having any rule in the organisation that forces someone who is above 75 years of age to step down from his position.
"In Sangh we are all volunteers, we all have to do what we are asked to do, we cannot cite our age to refuse any work," said RSS chief Bhagwat.
He claimed that he never said that he would retire or someone else should retire. He said that the volunteers of the Sangh do whatever the Sangh tells them to, irrespective of their age.
"I never said I would retire or someone should retire. In Sangh, we are given a job, whether we want it or not. If I am 80 years old and Sangh says go and run a 'shakha', I will have to do it. We do whatever the Sangh tells us to do," he said.
Here it is to be noted that both Mohan Bhagwat and Prime Minister Narendra Modi turn 75 in September.
Earlier, Bhagwat had mentioned that leaders should retire once they attain 75 years of age.
