BJP releases first list of 71 candidates for Bihar Assembly elections
The BJP on Tuesday released its first list of 71 candidates for the high-stakes Bihar Assembly polls, amid an ongoing deadlock in the state's ruling National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) seat-sharing agreement. The list features both the Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha.
While Chaudhary has been fielded from Tarapur, Sinha will contest from Lakhisarai.
Some of the other important names include senior party leader Ram Kripal Yadav who will contest from Danapur, Prem Kumar from Gaya, former Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad from Katihar, Alok Ranjan Jha from Saharsa, and Mangal Pandey from Siwan.
Meanwhile, the party has retained the Hisua seat and nominated Anil Kumar as its candidate. In a significant change, senior leader Nand Kishore Yadav has been dropped, with Ratnesh Kushwaha replacing him as the party’s candidate from Patna Sahib.
Elections for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, while counting takes place on November 14.
