A 38-year-old woman was mowed down by a train at the Raja Ki Mandi station in Agra after getting into a heated argument with her live-in partner. She reportedly jumped onto the railway tracks only to scare him, but ended up getting crushed. A CCTV footage of the incident has been going viral.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Rani, who was living with Kishore in Barf Wali Gali in Lohamandi area.

A report in India Today stated that Kishore, who works as a chow mein vendor, had returned home around 10 pm on Monday in an inebriated state. Within minutes, the duo began arguing over his drinking habits, which escalated when Rani threatened to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train.

While Kishore tried to dismiss Rani’s threats, she led him to Raja Ki Mandi station. Local reports stated that after reaching station platform number one, the live-in partners sat on a bench, and continued their argument.

Around 11:30, Rani got up from the bench and leaped onto the tracks to scare Kishore, unaware that Kerala Express travelling from Agra Cantt to New Delhi was approaching.

Rani tried to climb back onto the platform, but unfortunately couldn’t make it on time. The train hit her as she tried to escape, and she got stuck between the train and the platform.

According to IT report, RPF outpost in-charge Laxman Pachauri, along with constables, swiftly responded and rushed Rani to SN Medical College after pulling her out from under the train. But she succumbed to her injuries during treatment at the hospital.

The report quoted inspector Samar Bahadur, in-charge of the GRP Cantonment, as saying that Rani’s live-in partner revealed that she had a troubled past, including the death of her former husband, Dharmendra, due to excessive drinking.

Rani had been in a relationship with Kishore for over a year, the report stated. The publication further quoted deceased’s father Vinod, who told police that Rani had three sons from her previous marriage.

Two of her children lived with her, while the eldest son lived separately, the report stated, adding that the body had been sent for post-mortem.
