Two policemen were arrested in Himachal Pradesh after they allegedly killed a resort manager and seriously injured a receptionist during a New Year’s celebration at a private resort in Banikhet, near Dalhousie.

According to the resort's owner, the incident occurred late on Tuesday, when three policemen arrived at the resort demanding alcohol and food. The receptionist, Sachin, refused their request due to the late hour and lack of staff, which led to an altercation. Enraged, the policemen then began beating Sachin.

When the resort’s general manager, Rajinder, arrived to mediate, he was allegedly attacked as well. During the confrontation, Rajinder fell and was later declared dead.

Following the incident, angry locals took to the streets, blocking the Chamba Pathankot National Highway in protest. The police quickly arrested two constables, Anoop and Amit, and filed a murder charge against them.
