An 11-year-old boy has died during treatment at a hospital in Delhi after he was allegedly beaten up by senior students of his school. The incident happened on January 20 and the victim's father has claimed there was medical negligence in the matter.

Police have registered a case of culpable homicide in the matter under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the statement of the boy's father, and initiated further investigation into the same.

In his statement, the victim's father said that on January 11, the boy told his family after returning from school that he was thrashed by a few senior students. The 11-year-old complained of sustaining an injury to his left knee.

The boy was rushed to the emergency ward of Deep Chand Bandu Hospital, where he was prescribed some medicines and referred to the orthopaedic department for further treatment. However, when the family reached the department at 3:28 pm, it was closed; hence they took the 11-year-old boy back home.

Then, on January 15, the boy was taken to a private clinic in Rohini, where some other medicines were prescribed to the 11-year-old.

Five days later, on January 20, when the health of the boy deteriorated further, his family took him to the Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital. He died on the same day during treatment.
