A 15-month-old girl was slapped, bitten, thrown to the ground, and beaten with a plastic bat by a nanny at a day care in Noida. The incident was caught on CCTV.

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred on August 4 when the child’s mother brought her home from the day care and found her crying inconsolably. While changing the toddler’s clothes, the mother noticed circular marks on both of her thighs. Following, she took the girl to a doctor, who said that the marks were consistent with human bites.

The accused is a minor and said that she loves the child and did those things out of love, the police said.

The parents then reviewed the CCTV footage from the day care which showed the nanny's assault on the little girl. The video shows the nanny, carrying the crying girl, first trying to calm her down. However, when the girls didn't stop crying, the nanny lost her patience and dropped her on the ground and slapped her multiple times.

The parents further alleged that, despite the child’s cries, the head of the day care made no effort to comfort or protect her. Instead, they claim, both the maid and the day care head used abusive language and issued threats when confronted.

Acting on the parents’ complaint, Sector-142 police registered a case, conducted a medical examination of the child, and arrested the accused maid. “A case has been registered under relevant sections based on the complaint. The accused maid has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are underway,” a police official confirmed.
