A magnitude 3.1 earthquake jolted Haryana's Jhajjar, just a few kilometres from Delhi-NCR, on Sunday afternoon.
The epicentre of the earthquake was in the Haryana town with the tremors originating at around 10 kilometres below the surface, according to data from the National Center for Seismology.
Luckily, no injuries, casualties or damage to property were reported in the incident.
This is the fourth earthquake in the region in the last month and the first in August. Before this, a mild earthquake of magnitude 2.5 hit Jhajjar in mid-July.
Just a night prior to that, an earthquake measuring 3.3 on the Richter scale struck Haryana's Rohtak. The tremor occurred at 12:46 am, with the epicentre located 17 kilometers east of Rohtak city at a depth of 10 kilometers beneath the earth’s surface.
On July 11, Jhajjar district experienced a 3.7 magnitude tremor, followed just hours later by a more powerful 4.4 magnitude quake in the same region.
People across Delhi-NCR also reported feeling the tremors, with many sharing their experiences on social media and earthquake alert apps.
Seismological data indicated that four quakes measuring above 2.5 magnitude occurred within a 40-kilometer radius of Rohtak for over a week after July 10.
