The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has extended a copy of the autopsy report of renowned singer Zubeen Garg, who tragically drowned in Singapore on September 19, and the SPF’s preliminary findings on his passing to the High Commission of India upon their request. Sources said the Singapore police also spoke to Zubeen’s wife, Garima Garg.
Zubeen Garg, who was in Singapore for the 60th year of the India-Singapore Diplomatic Relations and to celebrate India ASEAN Year of Tourism, passed away on September 19. His autopsy report revealed that he died due to drowning while swimming off a Singapore island and not while scuba diving.
However, the SPF said police investigations into the matter of Zubeen’s passing are still ongoing and advised the public not to share any videos or images in connection with the tragic incident out of respect for the singer.
It should also be noted that the Singapore Police Force had previously ruled out foul play in the death of the Bollywood singer. “In the case of Zubeen Garg, a coroner’s inquiry could possibly shed light on the sequence of events leading up to his drowning," Ng Kai Ling, associate director at LIMN Law Corporation, had earlier said.
Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19. Garg was rescued from the sea by Singapore police and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where doctors monitored his condition and provided intensive care. Despite these efforts, the singer sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Assam’s CID’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating Zubeen Garg’s death case after suspicions of foul play. So far, they have questioned several people related to the case. Assam Police have arrested two more people in connection with the incident, bringing the total number to four.
The police had previously arrested Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta. Musician Shekharjyoti Goswami and singer Amritprabha Mahanta were taken into custody on Wednesday.
Garima Garg shed some light on the circumstances surrounding his death and hinted at his manager’s role. She said he was unexpectedly taken for a picnic and swimming, despite being visibly exhausted from his previous tours.
Speaking to media, Garima Garg shed some light on the circumstances surrounding his death and hinted at his manager’s role. She said he was unexpectedly taken for a picnic and swimming, despite being visibly exhausted from his previous tours.
“Why was he not taken care of when his manager was there? We have lost our cultural icon," she said. Garima said she last spoke to the singer on the night of September 18, a day before his death. She said he did not mention any plans for a picnic, which indicated that Zubeen himself was unaware of any such plan.
“He usually sleeps during the day; maybe he was forcefully taken. He was also on medication – I don’t even know if he was given his medicines," she mentioned. Garima also said that when she asked Siddharth about what happened, he told her that Zubeen had his first seizure inside the water.
