The much-awaited teaser of Ramayana is finally out, and with it comes Ranbir Kapoor’s first look as Lord Rama. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film has been mounted as a two-part cinematic adaptation of the epic, with Ranbir leading the cast alongside Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Laxman and Yash as Raavana. The teaser was first shown at a special event in Los Angeles before its India release on Hanuman Jayanti.
The response online has been split. While several viewers praised the scale, presentation and Ranbir’s look, others felt the visuals did not fully land and said some frames looked too much like a video game. Comments describing the VFX as “cartoonish,” while another fan reaction defended the teaser with the line “Our truth, our history.”
A section of the audience also raised questions over the film’s launch strategy, especially after the first glimpse was unveiled in Los Angeles before being made public in India. India Today reported that the overseas screening disappointed some fans, who felt an Indian epic should have been introduced to Indian audiences first.
At the same time, the teaser has also drawn strong support from industry voices. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand praised Ranbir’s appearance as Lord Rama, calling it “spectacular,” while other early viewers described the first glimpse as emotional and goosebump-worthy. The contrasting reactions suggest that Ramayana has already become one of the most debated releases of 2026, even before its full theatrical arrival.
