Actor Nana Patekar has finally broken his silence over a viral video of him slapping a boy who tried to take a selfie with him on sets of his film. The video has sparked a major controversy, with netizens calling Nana out for being “rude” to his fans. Now, Nana has reacted to the viral clip and said that it happened “by mistake”.
Nana released a video message on social media and clarified the shocking incident. He said, “A video is going viral in which I have hit a boy. Though this sequence is a part of our film, we had one rehearsal… We were scheduled to have a second rehearsal. The director told me to begin. We were about to begin when the boy in the video came in. I didn’t know who he was, I thought he was one of our crew so I slapped him as per the scene and I told him to leave.”
Nana continued, “Later, I came to know that he was not a part of the crew. So, I was going to call him back but he ran away. Maybe his friend shot the video. I have never said no to anybody for a photo. I don’t do this…This happened by mistake…If there is some misunderstanding, please forgive me…I will never do anything like this…”
Filmmaker Anil Sharma also issued a clarification and revealed that it was a shot from his film Journey, according to report in India Today.in. Anil Sharma said, “I have just come to know about this news. I was watching the same video just now. Nana has not hit anyone, rather that is a shot from my film. We were filming it on the road in the middle of Banaras, where a boy who comes near Nana has to be hit on the head. Shooting was going on and Nana also hit him.”
As per news agency PTI, the video is from Varanasi where Nana Patekar is currently shooting for Journey with Anil Sharma and his son-actor Utkarsh Sharma. In the 10-second clip, Nana was dressed in a suit and a hat, getting ready to shoot a scene when the boy came to him and tried to click a selfie. Nana gets angry and smacks him at the back of his head.
