Television star Karan Kundra has revealed that the biggest pay cheque of his career came from Bigg Boss 15, and according to him, it was unlike anything the show had seen before.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Elvish Yadav, Karan shared that negotiations for the show had been ongoing for nearly four to five years. However, things finally aligned after the pandemic when the producers were eager to have him on board. He described it as a “right place, right time” situation.
The actor acknowledged that he gave a number that had never been requested by a Bigg Boss contestant before. He claims that the show's core team later informed him that no participant had ever before requested such a large payment. Karan, who is confident in his market value, claimed that his knowledge of production economics and his background working behind the camera helped him determine what he should demand.
While he did not disclose the exact figure, industry chatter during the season had already positioned him among the highest-paid contestants that year. His strong television presence and loyal fan base were seen as major factors behind the hefty deal.
Bigg Boss 15 featured several popular names from television and reality circuits, including Shamita Shetty, Jay Bhanushali and Pratik Sehajpal. However, it was Tejasswi Prakash who ultimately won the trophy.
The relationship between Tejasswi and Karan, popularly referred to by fans as "TejRan," also began during the season. Since the show's end, the couple has maintained their popularity, and recent interviews have suggested that they may be getting married this year.
Karan's recent disclosure has reignited discussions about reality show compensation and the changing balance of power between producers and TV stars. If his statements are accurate, Bigg Boss 15 may have changed the way that contestants negotiate their paychecks.
