The teaser for Bhooth Bangla starring Akshay Kumar and directed by Priyadarshan, is out, and fans are finally getting their first glimpse of this much-anticipated reunion. The film promises a blend of comedy and supernatural elements, with Akshay’s signature timing on full display. However, while the teaser excites fans, it also shows room for improvement in pacing and editing during cast introductions.
The teaser opens with a mysterious legend surrounding Vadhusur of Mangalpur, a ghostly entity said to curse anyone who dares to get married there. Akshay’s character unexpectedly inherits a sprawling palace, slightly smaller than Buckingham standards, and the stage is set for hilarious encounters with the supernatural. While the visuals and comic beats are entertaining, some viewers noted that the cast announcements felt rushed and unevenly presented.
The teaser’s choppy editing and color grading give it a fast-paced feel, especially from the characters’ perspective. While engaging overall, this remains the only notable drawback in an otherwise highly anticipated and exciting first look.
Bhooth Bangla features a diverse cast including Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Mithila Palkar, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajesh Sharma and the late Asrani. Each actor brings their own charm to the film, creating potential for memorable comedy moments. Despite the star power, the teaser highlights that smoother editing could have enhanced the introduction of these characters and their dynamics.
Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan have a long history of successful collaborations in comedy films including Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, De Dana Dan and Khatta Meetha. Bhooth Bangla marks their latest reunion, bringing together familiar humor plus new supernatural twists.
Aakash Kaushik penned the story while Priyadarshan, Rohan Shankar and Abilash Nair crafted the screenplay. Rohan Shankar also wrote the dialogues, and Pritam has composed the music for the film. Bhooth Bangla is set to release in theatres on April 10, 2026, giving fans plenty of time to anticipate the laughs and improve the technical aspects.
Priyadarshan is also directing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in a thriller named Haiwaan, a remake of the 2016 Malayalam film Oppam featuring superstar Mohanlal. Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar are part of the cast, and the shoot wrapped in December 2025.
