The Trinamool Congress which has been under the scanner since 2022 for its alleged involvement in recruitment scams after recovering crores of cash from high profile Ministers have now faced a new development that comes after the Calcutta High Court ruled in favour of cancelling the jobs of around 26,000 candidates who appeared for the SSC examinations in 2016 because of rampant corruption and irregularities that resulted in undeserving candidates securing a job in lieu of paying huge sums of money to their local TMC Netas.

The arrest of leaders like former education Minister Partha Chatterjee as one of the primary suspect throws light on the extent of malpractices that took place in the recruitment process of the candidates who deserved to get posted as school teachers in primary schools. Now that the court has cancelled the jobs of 26,000 candidates, a political competition has emerged in the middle of the general elections where the BJP is making optimum use of the SSC recruitment scam as a poll issue to highlight the corruption that prevails under the Trinamool rule in West Bengal. While the latter has claimed that the verdict has posed a threat to the deserving candidates whose future is now uncertain after the HC has cancelled the jobs of all aspirants irrespective of their status as school teachers.

The verdict came as a relief in the midst of uncertainties for job seekers who are now determined to carry forward their fight to get justice as they believe that the timely intervention of the High Court along with investigations carried out by CBI & ED will help them fulfil their dreams of getting a job 7 putting the accused behind the bars. But the political fight between the BJP & TMC has emerged as the biggest talk of the town as TMC would find it hard to convince people as to how the recruitment scam took place because of the involvement of heavy weight leaders from the party itself. Apart from that the BJP has trained their guns to target Mamata Banerjee and his nephew Abhishek Banerjee for being responsible agents of this scam without addressing the concerns faced by job seekers who have been protesting for the last 5-6 years against the state Govt for its failure in the recruitment process. If Mamata or Abhishek fails to curtail the growing anger and dissatisfaction among job seekers then it can come down heavily for TMC which will ultimately favour BJP the most and to some extent CPM & Congress in the election.

The TMC also has given a befitting response to the principal opposition as they believe that the verdict has some elements that are inclined towards BJP especially after Justice Abhijit Ganguly’s entry into politics who played a crucial role in investigating the scam when it came into the limelight. So we can expect a tough & an interesting political fight to take place between the 2 parties in the coming phases of the Lok Sabha election and with time we can only hope that job aspirants are able to get the required justice for which they have been protesting for so many years.
