Female deaf actor was specially cast in the movie 'A Quiet Place' for the cast to learn the sign language. John Krasinski's debut feature “A Quiet Place” tells the story of a family with a deaf child, and the star wanted to make sure he included a deaf actor in the film, a non-negotiable deal for the actor. In the film, the actor, Millicent Simmonds plays the deaf daughter of Krasinski’s Lee Abbott in a post-apocalyptic thriller where monsters are drawn to sound and people must maintain their silence in order to live. According to Krasinski, Simmonds being deaf in real life helped him ground the film in reality more as she was a “guide through what it’s like to experience the world without hearing it.”Image courtesy: JONNY COURNOYER/PARAMOUNT PICTURES
