"It is that time of the year!" As Bihar annual floods head to it's another anniversary. The obvious questions linger across the political pool - What, How & When ? - What measures and precautions Bihar government is taking? What is the plan? How prepare are we? How are we executing it? When we'll be notified?
Kosi river - the sorrow of Bihar is never late in rising water level.
Since way earlier, Bihar has been witnessing severe floods that affects the agriculture which is the only economy here. Last year, at least 46 people most of whom were children were drowned in flood waters caused by only one day's torrential rain several districts of Bihar. In 2023 alone, 502 people died in Bihar due to floods.
According to Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) - 73.63% of the geographical area of North Bihar is prone to floods with affecting close to 500,000 farmers across region.

According to the latest World Meteorological Organization report (WMO) - that recent years, apart from 2023, in the South Asian region have been wetter than average and the forecast suggests this will continue for the 2025-2029 period.
As the extreme weather conditions leaving ghastly effects on lives. Environmentalists fear that this extreme conditions won't let us make till the annual global climate summit (COP30) where world leaders gather to discuss and combat the climate change effects.
However, with AI taking control, nuclear feared wars in the world, trade - tariff war & space race becomes the hurdle in global climate combat. Which requires support on every scale.
According to a WMO report - there will be no sign of relief in coming years, that being said it will affect economies and our lives.
Environmentalists' only hope is COP30's success as the clock is ticking and we are heading towards the Doomsday. It is high time that so called "Guardians of the World" now realize what we have been juggling with.
With elections on the horizon, Bihar becomes a playground more than a battleground. Bihar that comprises more than 13 crore population is preparing to survive sorrow, only to face another one. Bihar requires a long-term plan that is well articulated. Sadly, with the 'ping-pong' style politics here in the state leaves the ordinary people with no choice but to open a door that let's the sorrow of flood enter their homes.
A sorrow that comes every year and brings a friend after every 5 years called Elections.
