Rinku's six hits teen cricketer, batter offers signed KKR hat as apology

JJ News Desk

India and Kolkata Knight Riders finisher Rinku Singh was put in a pickle while practising with KKR ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024. One of Rinku's smashing six hit a budding cricketer in the forehead during the nets.

Kolkata Knight Riders posted a video of the incident on March 12, Tuesday, where the batter was seen immediately walking up to the child and apologising. Rinku was accompanied by KKR batting coach Abhishek Nayar who offered the kid a Kolkata Knight Riders hat.

Rinku even signed the hat for the kid before the latter left.

Rinku was the standout star in KKR's line-up in 2023 season of the IPL. The Uttar Pradesh batter had the opportunity to play a full season of the IPL for the first time and put in a sensational display. Rinku's performance in the IPL 2023 made him a household name and prompted the Indian team to select him in a specialist finisher's role.

Since his debut with the Indian team, Rinku has done incredibly well. The left hander has amassed 356 runs from 15 games, at a strike-rate of 176.23. Rinku has an average of 89 with the Indian team and recently hit two half-centuries as well.

The batter is expected to be selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 by the Indian team, which will be banking on the Indian Premier League to aid the selections. India are set to be captained by Rohit Sharma, who returned to the T20I format after a long hiatus of one year. Alongside Rohit, Virat Kohli is also expected to play in the T20 World Cup. India will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

With the ICC debuting a new format for the tournament, the competition is fiercer than ever, with teams divided into five groups of four, and the top two from each group qualifying for the Super 8s.
