X suffers massive outage, users face page load issue on app, website

Second major outage in 24 hours hits Elon Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) as users from several countries see a 'something went wrong' error while trying to load new posts.

Elon Musk-owned X (formerly known as Twitter) went down for many users on Saturday evening, with Downdetector showing a surge in outage reports around 6 pm.

The disruption came a day after the social media platform suffered a global outage on Friday, marking the second consecutive day of technical issues.

Trying to load new posts, the platform leads to an error message stating: "Something went wrong. Try reloading".

On Friday, more than half the users said they couldn't log into their accounts, while about 30 per cent faced app glitches, timelines refused to load, and tweets wouldn't post. For 13 per cent, the website didn't open at all, throwing up error messages or freezing altogether, according to Downdetector.

In March this year, Elon Musk claimed that his social media platform was being targeted in a "massive cyberattack".

"We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing," Musk said in a post.

His post came hours after X suffered a series of outages that left the social media platform unavailable to thousands of users.

Elon Musk, who bought Twitter in 2022 and also heads Tesla, now juggles control of X and access to US government data systems — often doing it in a "tech support" T-shirt.
