'Trying our best to unite everyone': Mallikarjun Kharge on Bihar political crisis

JJ News Desk

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday said that the party is trying its best to allay differences in the INDIA bloc amid Bihar political crisis. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he said that he had no "information about Janata Dal (United) leaving the alliance".

Earlier in the day, sources informed India Today TV that JD(U) veteran Nitish Kumar is likely to resign from the post of Bihar Chief Minister today, and that several Congress MLAs will go with him.

Kharge also said that he has written a letter to Nitish Kumar and even tried to speak to him.

"But I don't know what's on Nitish's mind. Tomorrow, I will go to Delhi and get full information. Let's see what happens," the Congress chief told reporters.

Mallilkarjun Kharge also said that the Congress is trying their best to make "everyone unite" in the INDIA alliance, adding that he has spoken to Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

"I told them (Mamata Banerjee and Sitaram Yechury) that we need to be united only then we can give a good fight (in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections)," Mallikarjun Kharge said.

The Congress chief further said that whoever wants INDIA alliance to work well and democracy "to be saved", will not make a "hasty decision".
