In a road‑rage incident, the 20‑year‑old son of a DMK leader in Tamil Nadu has been arrested for allegedly ramming his car into four members of a family following an altercation, resulting in one death.

The main accused has been identified as Adithya, while his friends – Rithik Kumar and Harish – who were also in the vehicle at the time of the incident, have been taken into custody.

The victim, Sivamoorthy, was an assistant labour inspector and a resident of Krishnagiri district.According to police, Adithya was driving when he found the road outside Sivamoorthy’s home blocked by a parked two-wheeler. He began honking, and Sivamoorthy and his family came out to remove it.

An argument followed. During the altercation, Adithya allegedly rammed the car into Sivamoorthy, his son Kirubakaran, daughter-in-law Amsavalli, and granddaughter Nilani. Sivamoorthy suffered the main impact and died from his injuries.

What victim’s family said?

Kirubakaran said their two-wheeler was parked outside their residence when the accused arrived and honked. He claimed that the boys were intoxicated and damaged the vehicle.

“My father was speaking to them patiently. All of a sudden, one of them rammed the car into us. My father died after the car hit him," he said.

Amsavalli said they tried to settle the matter peacefully and added that her child was injured.

Case registered

Police said a case of murder has been registered and the three accused arrested. Further investigation is under way.

A police officer said Adithya’s father is a DMK leader in Krishnagiri district. The victim’s family has demanded strict action.

Meanwhile, state BJP chief Nainar Nagendran criticised the ruling DMK over the incident and questioned the Chief Minister MK Stalin over the law and order, alleging that DMK functionaries have become powerful and are ready to do anything, anywhere.
