Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday over the latter's remark on the party's manifesto and the claim that if the party is voted to power, it would distribute the country's wealth to "infiltrators" and "those who have more children".

Kharge addressed the Prime Minister on X and wrote, "You are being misinformed by your advisors about things that are not even written in our manifesto."

The Congress chief also slammed PM Modi for the remarks he made and said, "When all this is over, people will remember that the PM of the country used such vulgar language for fear of losing an election."

He was responding to PM Modi's remarks made at an election rally in Rajasthan. The Prime Minister alleged that the Congress manifesto states that the party will take stock of the gold mothers and daughters have, and will distribute that wealth to "those with more children" and "infiltrators".

"They will check how much gold and silver our sisters own. The gold is not just for showing, it's a woman's self-esteem. The value of mangalsutra is not just limited to the price of gold, but is connection with their dreams. You (Congress) are taking about taking it away," the Prime Minister had said.'
