As Delhi gears up for the announcement of the Assembly Election 2025 results, the political drama intensifies. The counting of votes for the 70 Assembly constituencies have begun amid tight security at 19 locations across the National Capital, as per news agency PTI. In the single-phase election held on Wednesday, the 70 Assembly constituencies of Delhi recorded a total voter turnout of 60.44 percent. North East district recorded the highest turnout at 66.25% while South East district logged 56.31% voter turnout.
In a post on X, Arvind Kejriwal, who contested from the New Delhi Assembly constituency this time, has made another allegation claiming that the Election Commission (EC) had refused to upload form 17C, which filled by the presiding election officer and records the voter turnout in every polling station of a constituency.
“The EC refused to upload form 17C and number of votes polled per booth in each assembly despite several requests. Aam Aadmi Party has made a website – http://transparentelections.in where we have uploaded all the form 17C of every assembly, ” The AAP convener wrote.
“Through the day, we will present the data of every assembly and every booth in a tabulated format as well so that every voter can access this information. This is something that the election commission should have done in the interest of transparency but it is unfortunate that they are refusing to do it.”
The EC in May last year had has opposed the plea for public disclosure of voter turnout figures on public platforms. The allegations come after AAP had accused the BJP of manipulating electoral rolls in New Delhi.
The Delhi Police have registered 1,100 cases of alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations and arrested or detained over 35,000 people in connection with these cases, an official said on Friday.
The cases were filed between January 7, when the MCC came into force, and February 6.
A total of 35,516 people have been arrested or detained under various provisions of preventive action and other acts, according to a statement.
Police have confiscated 477 illegal firearms and 538 cartridges, with 499 people arrested under the Arms Act, the statement said.
The police have also seized 1,15,103 liters of liquor and arrested 1,426 people, 206.712 kg of drugs worth over Rs 77.9 crore, along with more than 1,200 banned injections, and arrested 179 people so far. PTI
After Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena sought a probe by the Anti- Corruption Bureau into the poaching allegations made by AAP leaders, the ACB has sent a notice to Arvind Kejriwal, asking him to be available for an inquiry today. The notice also mentions certain questions asking the legitimacy of Kejriwal’s tweet citing the allegations against BJP. The Corruption watch dog has also asked for the details of the 16 AAP leaders who received calls for bribes and phone numbers from which the calls were made.
A three-tier security arrangement, including two companies of paramilitary forces and Delhi Police personnel, has been made for the 19 counting centres on the day of vote counting for Delhi Assembly elections on Saturday, officials said.
“We have made robust security arrangements (for counting day). Only authorised personnel will be allowed inside the counting centres, where the use of mobile phones will be strictly prohibited,” Special Commissioner of Police, Devesh Chandra Srivastva, said while addressing a press conference on securing arrangements for the counting day.
Delhi Police has already conducted anti-sabotage checks at all the counting centres and devised a traffic management plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement, he added. PTI

BJP’s Kartar Singh Tanwar leading with 3463 votes from Chhatarpur.
BJP’s Manjinder Singh Sirsa leading in Rajouri Garden by 2125 votes.
Former deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia is now leading in Jangpura constituency. BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress’ Farhad Suri are trailing in this seat.
On the other hand, former CM Arvind Kejriwal is trailing behind Parvesh Verma in New Delhi constituency, and CM Atishi is trailing behind Ramesh Bidhuri in Kalkaji.

CM Atishi is trailing behind BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri by 1149 votes in Kalkaji constituency.
In the second round of counting, AAP’s national convenor and former CM Arvind Kejriwal is leading from New Delhi constituency by a slim margin of 254 votes against BJP’s former MP Parvesh Verma.
Although BJP is leading in more seats, in early trends, AAP holds greater margins in their leading constituencies.
As per Election Commission of India (ECI) data, AAP’s Anil Jha is holding a 12,825 vote margin – the largest in his party. Gopal Rai is leading with 10,359 votes; Anjana Parcha, 12,501; Imran Hussain, 11,278.
On the other hand, among BJP’s leading candidates, Kapil Mishra holds the largest margin with a 6470 lead, so far.
CM Atishi, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Congress leader Alka Lamba arrive at the Maharani Bagh counting centre.
In early trends, BJP’s Om Prakash Sharma is leading by 32,456 votes in Vishwas Nagar, as per ECI. Gopal Rai from Babarpur is leading by 19,123 votes.
BJP’s Karnail Singh leading from Shakur Basti constituency with an 8072 vote margin. He is competing against AAP’s Satyendra Jain and INC’s Satish Kumar Luthra.
On trends suggesting lead for BJP, the party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, said, “I believe we should wait for final results and I am certain that they will be more favourable for us.”

In the sixth round of counting, AAP’s national convenor and former CM Arvind Kejriwal is trailing behind BJP’s former MP Parvesh Verma by a slim margin of 225 votes.
AAP’s Kuldeep Kumar (Monu) is leading by 15605 votes in Kondli Assembly seat. BJP rival in the constituency is Priyanka Gautam.
On trends suggesting lead for BJP, social activist Anna Hazare says: “I have always said that a candidate’s conduct, thoughts should be pure, life should be without a blame, sacrifice… these qualities let voters have faith on him. I told this (to Arvind Kejriwal) but he did not pay heed, and finally, he focused on liquor… why did this issue raise? He was overwhelmed by money power…”
Congress candidate from New Delhi constituency, Sandeep Dikshit says, “It feels like that BJP government will be formed. Our only disappointment is that we didn’t get the votes as per what we were expecting. In New Delhi constituency, neck and neck fight is going on between Arvind Kejriwal and Parvesh Verma.”
He is competing against former AAP’s CM Arvind Kejriwal and former BJP MP Parvesh Verma who are in a stiff competition with margin of less than 300 votes between them at the moment. Kejriwal is currently trailing.
The grand old party is trailing behind in all 70 seats in the National Capital, the party office remains empty and tranquil.

The BJP is leading in 42 Assembly constituency seats, including Vishwas Nagar and Shahdara, according to NDTV. AAP is leading in 28 seats but trailing in key constituencies, including Arvind Kejriwal’s New Delhi constituency by a slim margin of 225 votes and CM Atishi’s Kalkaji constituency by 2,800 votes. Congress is not leading in any seat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reportedly visit BJP’s party headquarters in DDU Marg after 7 pm.
With the party offices and local branches bracing for a comeback after 25 years, visuals of celebrations are going viral on social media.
The BJP contested in 68 seats, while NDA allies LJP (RV) and JD(U) contested in one seat each.
The Election Commission of India has ended counting in 23 of the 70 seats.
Out of these, BJP won 13 seats and AAP, 10.

With a vote share of 6 per cent, Congress did not win any seat in the Assembly polls this year.
Former BJP MP Parvesh Verma, who contested from New Delhi constituency, defeated Arvind Kejriwal by a margin of nearly 4,000 votes was welcomed his family and party workers at his house.
Parvesh Verma’s family, in celebration, assembled at the entrance with an arti thali. A family member said that they are hopeful that he will now become the Chief Minister.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani attributed the party’s victory in Delhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guarantees, news agency PTI reported.
Speaking to reporters, Irani said: “BJP, thanks to PM Modi’s guarantees, has scripted a history in Delhi. I would like to thank the people of Delhi for trusting PM Modi’s guarantees and giving BJP a chance to serve them.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, congratulating the BJP leaders and workers over the BJP’s victory in Delhi, regarded it as a a triumph of development and good governance.
“Development wins, good governance triumphs. I bow to my dear sisters and brothers of Delhi for this resounding and historic mandate to @BJP4India. We are humbled and honoured to receive these blessings. It is our guarantee that we will leave no stone unturned in developing Delhi, improving the overall quality of life for the people and ensuring that Delhi has a prime role to play in building a Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Responding to a question about BJP’s win in Delhi elections, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said: “Indeed happy to know that. Because under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, we are very keen that Delhi gets a government which serves its people and that is something which is the need of our attaining Viksit Bharat 2047.”
“India’s national capital region should have a government, which serves the cause of its people and I strongly believe that the roadmap that the Prime Minister has set for the country, should certainly take Delhi on the top priority, and serve its people from every point of view for all the human development indicator-related issues and also the fundamental infrastructure, schools, hospitals, people’s healthcare and capital worth India’s Viksit Bharat aspirations,” she said while addressing an RBI board meeting conference.
Three Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ministers – Gopal Rai, Mukesh Ahlawat and Imran Hussain – secured victories from Babarpur, Sultanpur Majra, and Ballimaran, respectively, after senior leaders are headed for a loss in Delhi.
According to news agency PTI, Hussain won with a margin of 29,823 votes, Rai with 18,994 votes and Ahlawat with a margin of 17,126 votes.
Moments after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) conceded defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, senior AAP leader and Delhi CM Atishi vowed to continue the fight against BJP.
Speaking to reporters, Atishi thanked the people of Kalkaji for showing their faith on her. Expressing gratitude towards her team, she said that they have worked hard on-ground while facing “baahubal, gunda-gardi…”
“We accept the mandate of the people of Delhi. I have won the seat, but this is not the time for victory. This is a time for ‘war’, which will continue against Bharatiya Janata Party, their dictatorship and their gunda-gardi. Aam Aadmi Party has always fought against the wrongs, and will continue to do so. This is a setback, but AAP’s struggle for the people of Delhi, and the country will never end,” Atishi said.
BJP candidate Neelam Pahalwan won from the Najafgarh constituency by a margin of 29,009 votes, as per the EC website.
The seat was earlier held by former Delhi minister Kailash Gahlot, who left AAP and joined BJP ahead of the elections.
Incumbent Delhi Chief Minister and senior AAP leader Atishi retained her Kalkaji seat by a margin of 3,521 votes, according to the Election Commission website.
Former Delhi transport minister Kailash Gahlot, who had quit AAP and joined BJP ahead of the Assembly election, won from the Bijwasan constituency by a margin of 11,276 votes.
As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) crossed the majority-mark in Delhi Assembly elections 2025 on Saturday, celebrations began across the national Capital.
Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, speaking to reporters, after Aam Aadmi Party’s loss in Delhi Assembly elections 2025, took a dig at AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, referring to the alleged assault on her by Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar.
“Arrogance and pride of a person cannot survive for long, and what happened with Arvind Kejriwal is an example of this. Even Ravan’s arrogance was shattered, then who is Arvind Kejriwal? Whenever a woman was attacked, the person responsible for this was always punished by God,” Maliwal stated.
“It’s because of the issues like water pollution, air pollution and the condition of the streets, that Arvind Kejriwal himself has lost his seat. They (AAP) think that they can lie and people will believe in them… People should do what they say but our (AAP) leadership forgot that and deviated from what they used to say… I congratulate the BJP. People have voted for them with hope – and they should work to fulfil that…,” Maliwal told news agency ANI
