Telugu superstar Allu Arjun and the makers of Pushpa 2 have announced a compensation of Rs 2 crore to the family of the child who was critically injured in the stampede during a screening of the movie in Hyderabad. The child's mother, 36-year-old Revathi, died in the stampede that broke out at Sandhya theatre as Arjun arrived for the premiere of the movie on December 4.

While Rs 1 crore was given by Allu Arjun, Mythri Movies and director Sukumar gave Rs 50 lakh each. The compensation will be handed over to the family by film producer and chairperson of the Telangana Film Development Corporation, Dil Raju.

The compensation was announced by Allu Arjun's father, Allu Aravind, when he visited the KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad to check on nine-year-old Sri Tej. "I have some legal instructions not to interact with family members. So, I requested chairman Dil Raju to hand over the money," Allu Aravind said.

Aravind said Sri Tej was responding well to treatment and had been taken off the ventilator two days ago. "We are very satisfied about his recovery. Previously, he was on ventilation. In the last few days, he has come out of ventilation, and he is breathing by himself. Doctors said it is a very good sign, he is going to recover fast," he said.

The development comes a day after Allu Arjun was questioned by Hyderabad Police for around four hours in connection with the stampede. During the interrogation, Arjun, who is out on bail, said he came to know of the woman's death the next day, sources said.

The actor has come under severe criticism from Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for allegedly attending the screening of the film despite the police denying permission. The Chief Minister also claimed that even after the stampede, the actor held a roadshow and waved to the crowd, leading to further chaos.
