The Lok Sabha on Tuesday suspended eight opposition members for “unruly behaviour" after they allegedly disrupted proceedings and threw papers in the direction of the Chair.
Among those suspended are Manickam Tagore, Gurjeet Ojla, Raja Warring, Ebi Eden, Kiren Reddy and Venkat Raman.
Strongly condemning the incident, the Speaker described the conduct as a serious violation of parliamentary decorum and asserted that such behaviour would not be tolerated, especially during the ongoing Budget Session.
After the House was adjourned, BJP members stated that persistent disruptions by the opposition escalated into misconduct, including attempts to target the presiding officer by throwing documents.
The party maintained that firm action was necessary to uphold the dignity of Parliament.
The BJP further announced that it would lodge a formal complaint with the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding the disorder and the alleged incident involving papers being hurled towards the Chair.
