A 28-year-old woman was arrested on Monday in the Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad, Telangana, after a 16-year-old boy accused her of sexually assaulting him on multiple occasions. The woman, who was employed as a maid, was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following a complaint lodged by the teenage boy’s parents.

The boy and his family reside in the staff quarters of a bungalow, where the accused also lived. Police officials said the woman had allegedly befriended the teenager and invited him to her home several times before sexually abusing him. The assaults reportedly occurred within the same residential compound.

According to investigators, the matter came to light when the boy’s parents noticed signs of distress in his behaviour. “He appeared emotionally withdrawn and depressed. When his parents spoke to him, he revealed that he had been sexually abused by the woman, who also threatened him against disclosing it," an officer with the Jubilee Hills Police said.

Shocked by the revelation, the boy’s family initially confronted the woman before approaching the police. A formal case was registered, and the woman was taken into custody. She was later produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.

The police are continuing the investigation and have appealed for sensitivity and caution in reporting the case, emphasising that the identity of the minor is being protected as per legal norms.
