A jeep driver collided with an oncoming e-rickshaw on the highway in Bilaspur, Rampur, on Wednesday, causing the vehicle to overturn and injuring the driver, Shabbu, who began bleeding from his nose.

After the collision, the jeep driver, identified as Manpreet, attempted to flee the scene, but the injured driver stood in front of the vehicle to stop him.

Despite this, the jeep driver did not stop and dragged Shabbu onto the bonnet, carrying him a short distance along Rampur Road.

When bystanders shouted at him, he rotated his car while the Shabbu was still on the bonnet and only came to a halt after people intervened, preventing further injury.

Several witnesses recorded the incident on their phones, and the footage circulated widely on social media.

Following the complaint, Uttar Pradesh police registered a case under relevant sections and have started further investigation.

Anurag Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rampur, said, “A jeep driver named Manpreet collided with an e-rickshaw driver named Shabbu. The e-rickshaw driver ended up on the jeep bonnet while the jeep tried to flee. Bystanders intervened and stopped the driver.”

He added, “Police arrested Manpreet, issued a challan under Section 151, and seized the jeep. An FIR has been registered, and further legal proceedings are ongoing.”
