UP man lets wife go with lover after seeing her 'cement and blue drum' post

A man in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr decided to end his marriage and let his wife live with her boyfriend, after she allegedly threatened to kill him and stuff him in a blue drum with cement. The threat appeared to be in reference to the infamous Meerut murder last year wherein the accused, Muskan, in assistance with her boyfriend, Sahil, killed her husband and put him in a blue drum filled with cement.

Rajkumar, a daily wage labourer, lives in Daulatpur village and has been married to his wife for seven years. The two also have a six-month-old child. He claimed that his wife developed a relationship with a man she met through social media. Over time, the two grew close and allegedly began meeting secretly while also maintaining frequent phone contact.

He told reporters that she left him in July last year, claiming she was going to live at her parents' house. In reality, however, she was living with her boyfriend. "She would constantly ask me for evidence," Rajkumar said.

Some time back, when his wife was on a call – most likely with her boyfriend – Rajkumar snatched her phone and found objectionable photos of her with her boyfriend on her device. He also discovered a Facebook post with the caption "cement and blue drum".

When asked to end the affair, Rajkumar's wife not only resisted but also allegedly threatened to kill him and his brothers using the 'blue drum' method. The threat coupled with the Facebook post scared him and he approached the police. The matter was then taken to the Women's Mediation Cell, where both parties were called for counselling. During the mediation process, the woman's boyfriend also arrived, and discussions were held between all three families.

During the proceedings, Rajkumar's wife firmly said that she wanted to live with her boyfriend. Following this, Rajkumar and his family agreed to let her go with her boyfriend. He said that he made the decision to protect his life.

"She would not cook for me or clean my clothes. She would also throw away the soiled clothes of our baby instead of washing them. She repeatedly said that she wanted to live with her boyfriend," Rajkumar added.

Police said efforts were made to resolve the matter amicably through counselling. No official statement has been issued yet regarding any criminal charges in the case.
