Twin brothers' robbery trick busted: One stole while other created CCTV alibi

Twin brothers Saurabh and Sanjeev Verma used a deceptive scheme where one committed a robbery while the other provided an alibi using CCTV footage, a tactic recently uncovered by the police leading to their arrest.

An extraordinary case of theft involving identical twins has emerged in Madhya Pradesh, leaving the police puzzled. The twin brothers used a clever trick to mislead the police and carry out robberies. According to authorities, while one brother committed the crimes, the other ensured he was captured on CCTV cameras at a different location, creating an alibi.

If the person involved in the robbery was caught, he would claim innocence by presenting the CCTV footage as evidence to prove he was not at the crime scene. This audacious method had been a challenge for the police for a long time, until they recently uncovered the ruse and arrested the brothers -- Saurabh Verma and Sanjeev Verma.

The twins' latest heist occurred on December 23 when they targeted a vacant house in Mauganj city. The duo broke into the house, forced open cupboards and boxes, and stole valuables worth lakhs of rupees, including jewellery and cash.

A massive manhunt was launched, leading to the arrest of three people, including Saurabh Verma. However, the case took a dramatic turn when Sanjeev appeared at the police station, claiming to be the man the police had already arrested.

A senior police officer revealed that the sight of Sanjeev caused confusion among officers, who initially believed the detained suspect had somehow escaped. Upon thorough interrogation, the twins' elaborate plan came to light.

The brothers went to great lengths to maintain their deception, dressing identically and rarely living together to avoid raising suspicions. Their strategy was so effective that only a handful of villagers were aware of their existence as twins.

The police have recovered stolen jewellery worth lakhs of rupees from the accused.
