Three Men Arrested In Coimbatore Gang Rape Case, Shot At While Trying To Escape

A 20-year-old student was kidnapped and gang-raped near Brindhavan Nagar, behind the Coimbatore International Airport.

Three men accused in the Coimbatore gang rape case were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday. According to police, all three were shot in the leg after they reportedly tried to escape during the arrest operation. They were later taken to hospital for treatment.

The arrests follow a shocking incident on Sunday night, when a 20-year-old student was kidnapped and gang-raped near Brindhavan Nagar, behind the Coimbatore International Airport.

The survivor was with her boyfriend in a parked car around 10.30 p.m. when three unidentified men arrived on a stolen two-wheeler, smashed the car’s windshield, and attacked the boy with weapons before abducting her.

Around 4:30 a.m., the survivor was abandoned in a deserted area and later found unconscious. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the survivor is under medical care, and her identity remains protected as per Supreme Court guidelines.
