Student found dead in Delhi's Maulana Azad Medical College, suicide suspected

The student has been identified as 30-year-old Amit Kumar. Delhi Police stated that they found the body of Amit Kumar hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room on Tuesday morning. Kumar was a first-year student of MD (Doctor of Medicine).

A medical student allegedly took his life at the Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi. The student has been identified as 30-year-old Amit Kumar.

Delhi Police stated that they found the body of Amit Kumar hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room on Tuesday morning.

Kumar was a first-year student of MD (Doctor of Medicine).

He was receiving treatment for a psychiatric disorder, a police official said, adding that no suicide note was found in his room.

The family members of the victim have been notified and further investigation into the case is underway, the officials said, news agency PTI reported.

Earlier this month, a second-year MBBS student of a private college in Maharashtra’s Wardha district committed suicide by jumping from the dean's office over an attendance issue. This incident took place on August 1. The student was studying at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College.
