Siya Goyal’s Family Breaks Silence on Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: ‘Punish the Guilty, Even If It’s My Daughter’

The family of Siya Goyal has spoken publicly for the first time following her arrest in connection with the death of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal, saying that anyone found guilty should face the strictest punishment, regardless of family ties.

Speaking to PTI, Siya’s mother expressed grief over Ketan’s death, describing him as “a very good boy” and saying the tragedy had devastated both families. She said that if her daughter is found guilty through the legal process, she should receive the harshest punishment.

The family maintained that they were unaware of any serious issues between Siya and Ketan before the incident. According to her mother, both families had been preparing for the couple’s wedding, and there had been no indication that Siya did not wish to proceed with the marriage.

She said the families shared a cordial relationship and that Ketan’s family had treated Siya with affection. She added that if any problems had existed between the couple, they could have been discussed with family members before matters escalated.

However, police have presented a different account during the investigation. According to investigators, Siya allegedly told officers during questioning that she was in a relationship with Chetan Chaudhary and did not want to continue with her engagement to Ketan. Police claim she felt unable to call off the engagement because of family and social pressure.

Investigators allege that this situation led to a conspiracy to kill Ketan. According to police, Chaudhary reached Lohagad Fort before the couple on June 18 and later followed them to an isolated location, where Ketan was allegedly pushed into a gorge. The incident was initially treated as an accidental fall before the investigation took a different direction.

Ketan Agarwal, a member of a prominent Pune business family, died during the outing at Lohagad Fort near Lonavala. Following further investigation, police registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary have both been arrested and remain in police custody. Meanwhile, Chetan's father, Babulal Chaudhary, has denied the allegations against his son, claiming he has been falsely implicated in the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the allegations made by police will be subject to examination during the judicial process. No court has yet determined the guilt or innocence of the accused.
