Actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan has reacted to the death of 22-year-old television actor Sanchita Ugale, speaking about the importance of meditation, spirituality and emotional resilience while expressing sadness over the incident.
Speaking to PTI, Ravi Kishan referred to the growing number of young people who die by suicide and said practices such as meditation, prayer and spirituality can help individuals cope with life's challenges.
"Isiliye meditation zaroori hai, adhyatma zaroori hai, puja paath zaroori hai, thoda shaktiyan milti hai. Sukh dukh to aate rehte hai... Lekin zinda bhi rehna hai," he said, stressing the need to find strength during difficult times.
The actor-politician also shared his personal religious beliefs regarding suicide, describing it as a grave act and speaking about spiritual consequences according to his understanding. His remarks have drawn attention on social media, with some users agreeing with his emphasis on mental well-being and others debating his comments on spirituality and suicide.
Sanchita Ugale, known for her work in television shows such as Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya, was found dead at her residence in Nalasopara, near Mumbai, on Sunday. She was 22.
According to police, officers reached the scene after being informed of the incident and conducted an inspection. Authorities said no suicide note was recovered and that nothing suspicious was immediately found at the location. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
Apart from television, Sanchita had also appeared in films. She portrayed the younger version of Tara Rani in the film Chhaava and featured in Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout alongside Manoj Bajpayee.
The actor's death has prompted an outpouring of grief from fans and members of the entertainment industry, with many paying tribute to her work and expressing condolences to her family.
