Nagpur Police have arrested a woman accused of marrying eight men and extorting money from them through threats and false complaints. Gittikhadan Police arrested the woman, identified as Samira Fatima, who had been on a run for over a year.

Police said Samira used social media to contact married men. She claimed to be divorced and agreed to live as a second wife. After marriage, she would threaten the men with legal action and demand money.

According to the complaint filed by Ghulam Pathan in March 2023 at Gittikhadan Police Station, Samira married several men since 2010 and took money from them. He said she cheated him and others of around Rs 50 lakh, and he has provided proof of Rs 10 lakh.

Police added that Samira had worked as a school teacher. During her time in hiding, she was seen at a tea stall in Civil Lines, where she was arrested.

She is accused of using the same method in each case: meeting men online, marrying them and then asking for money under pressure of court cases or settlements.

A case has been registered and legal proceedings are underway. Further investigation is ongoing.
