A doctor at a private hospital in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut is under investigation after a family alleged he treated their child’s bleeding wound with Fevikwik instead of stitches.

Sardar Jaspinder Singh, who resides with his family in a posh society in the upscale Jagriti Vihar locality, said his son was playing at home when he hit his head on the corner of a table and began bleeding.

The family rushed him to Bhagyashree Hospital, where the attending doctor allegedly told them to buy a Rs 5 tube of Fevikwik and used it to seal the wound.

According to the family, the child kept crying in pain. “The doctor said the child was just nervous and the pain would subside,” they alleged in their complaint.

When the discomfort persisted through the night, the family took the boy to Lokpriya Hospital the next morning. Doctors there reportedly took three hours to remove the hardened adhesive from the injury. After clearing the area, they applied four stitches to close the wound.

The family said the situation could have been far worse. They alleged that if the Fevikwik had leaked into the toddler's eye, a serious incident could have occurred.

Meerut Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashok Kataria confirmed that the matter has been brought to his attention. “The child’s family has filed a complaint. An investigation committee has been formed, and action will be taken based on the findings,” he said.

The inquiry is expected to examine whether standard medical protocols were violated and whether any disciplinary or legal action is warranted against the doctor involved.

The child's family has also raised the matter with the Chief Minister's office.
