Hundreds of pilgrims are currently stranded in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand following a landslide on the Adi Kailash route. The landslide has blocked the route completely due to which both the pilgrims and local are stranded.

A team from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has already reached the site of the landslide and efforts are on to remove the debris and restore the road at the earliest.

The situation is being closely monitored by the administration and relief work is in progress.

The Adi Kailash Yatra is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, India. Adi Kailash is considered the second most sacred of the 'Panch Kailash' (Five Kailashas).

While most of the route is motorable, some portions require trekking. The pilgrimage is located at a height of 5,945 metres. The route is subjected to heavy landslides during the monsoon season.
