Comedian and reality television personality Munawar Faruqui has called for an end to the online trolling surrounding the viral ₹370 biryani controversy involving comedian Pranit More and audience member Himanshu Jangra.

The controversy began during one of More's stand-up performances, where a crowd-work interaction with Jangra drew criticism on social media. During the exchange, Jangra reportedly said that he had spent ₹370 on a plate of chicken biryani while on a date and therefore expected something in return. The remarks were widely condemned as insensitive and misogynistic, sparking significant backlash online.

Following the controversy, Jangra issued a public apology and deactivated his social media accounts. More also apologised, saying he regretted any hurt caused by the incident. Addressing the issue through a video shared on Instagram Stories, Faruqui said that while the comments made during the show were wrong, the continued public outrage had crossed a line.

"I think all of us need to stop now," Faruqui said. He noted that he disagreed with several remarks made during the interaction and found them inappropriate. However, he argued that there should be limits to online criticism and harassment.

Faruqui pointed out that those involved had already faced significant consequences, including legal action, reputational damage and professional setbacks. He urged people not to continue exploiting the controversy for content and engagement on social media.

The comedian further stated that any legal consequences should be allowed to take their course, but called on internet users to stop piling on additional abuse.

The fallout from the incident has extended beyond social media. Jangra, who was employed at Starvik Design, was terminated from his position after the controversy escalated. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Cyber Police registered a case against Pranit More in connection with the matter.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also taken cognisance of the issue and summoned both More and Jangra over the remarks made during the show. The incident has reignited discussions about accountability in comedy, audience interactions during live performances and the impact of online backlash on individuals involved in viral controversies.
