An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the upper reaches of Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. According to sources, around three terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area.
In September, a significant encounter unfolded in the Guddar forest of Kulgam district. During this gunfight, three Army personnel were wounded, with two eventually dying from their injuries in hospital.
The joint operation, named 'Operation Guddar,' was launched based on specific intelligence. Security forces killed two terrorists in the encounter, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba operative from Pakistan. The body of the Lashkar terrorist, identified as Rehman Bhai, was recovered in the Guddar forest area.
The encounter had occurred during a joint search operation conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.
Three Army personnel were wounded in the clash, with two succumbing to their injuries in the hospital.
In October, six terrorists were killed in Jammu and Kashmir in Operation Akhal, one of the biggest counter-terror exercises this year.
Officials told media that the terrorists who were killed belonged to The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The outfit had claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 civilians dead.
