A fire broke out in the general coach of the 14618 Amritsar–Purnia Jansewa Express on Friday evening near Sonbarsha Kutchehry station under the Samastipur division.

The fire was quickly brought under control using extinguishers, and no passenger injuries or casualties were reported. All passengers were safely shifted to other coaches, said Indian Railways in an official statement.

A passenger named Ram Kumar confirmed that the fire occurred after his mobile phone blasted while charging.

A video of the incident circulating on social media shows panic and chaos among passengers as smoke billows from one of the train’s coaches.

People can be seen rushing out of the compartments, shouting, while others move away from the train for safety. Jaano Junction cannot independently verify the authenticity of the video.

In a separate incident that took place on October 18, a fire broke out in a coach of the Amritsar-Saharsa Garib Rath Express near Sirhind railway station.

According to the Railway Board, one person sustained minor injuries in the incident which took place at nearly 7:30 AM.
